A Vibrant Family Farmhouse

For this project, our clients had a vision, but let our design team run with it and do some creative things with each space. This family has a genuine heart for people and their home is filled with laughter. We wanted to reflect that in our design throughout the home.

This kitchen was such a fun project. We created a U-shaped banquette so the family could come together in the same space. We used a lot of warm materials in here, like hickory, a wipeable leather bench back (great for the spills and messes of family life), and a custom-made table in a distressed oak to fit the size of the banquette.

One of our favorite features is the range hood. It’s made out of reclaimed wood of an old pallet. The carpenter was able to bend the wood to give it that hood shape. We used a patterned tile on the backsplash from Cement Tile Shop. For the counters, we chose a quartz that looks like concrete. The backsplash is also reclaimed wood to tie into the range hood, and the appliances are cafe matte white to blend with the rest of the cabinetry. The overall feel of this space was durable and family-friendly, so with that, we added vinyl plank flooring in grey. The chandelier really feels fitting of the whole space and anchors and ties the whole area together. It really becomes a focal point of the whole kitchen.

The island color is a combined mixture of a custom blue cabinet color and white, and along with that pop of color, we added floating shelves for a lot of visual interest. And speaking of visual interest, behind the yellow barn doors is a walk-in pantry.

The cozy living room area is where the family spends a lot of their time together. Because of that, we wanted to create a space that felt warm and inviting, like a farmhouse. To tie into the kitchen backsplash, we used the same tile on the fireplace and used the warm tones in burnt oranges, gold tones, and a copper coffee table. We then added family pieces like their antique piano.

For the barn doors, we used the same color as the pantry doors in the kitchen for a pop of color to the family room, and also this cozy space that can be closed off for a smaller space.
